EPHESUS

"First a Greek settlement on the Aegean Sea, it later became the capital of Roman government in Asia, a key player in East-West trade, and its Mediterranean harbour was one of the most significant for exporting products to the ancient world. The city developed around an ancient shrine of the earth goddess Artemis and later became a key city in the expansion of Christianity, from which St Paul launched many of his missions. The city has a rich history dating back to 6,000 BC."

BASILICA of St John

" The basilica was constructed by Justinian I in the 6th century at a site where John the Apostle was said to have been buried. It was modeled after the now-demolished Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople."

House of VIRGIN MARY

“ According to Christian tradition, after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the apostle John took Mary to Ephesus for safety. It is believed that Mary lived the final years of her life in a small stone house on Bulbul Mountain, which later became known as the House of the Virgin Mary.."
